In addition to addressing needs of the neighborhood the Port Norfolk Civic League also provides many recreational opportunities for the community's enjoyment. Events are held throughout the year. Some past events have included Music in the Park, a Murder Mystery Dinner, an annual Summer Picnic, an annual Christmas Pot Luck dinner, Holiday Caroling and more.

On May 1, 2004 the Civic League had a terrific event to celebrate the opening of the new bridge ~ a neighborhood block party on Bayview Boulevard! Large Bothers catered the event. The menu included fish, chicken, fries, cole slaw, baked beans, potato salad, hush puppies and tea or punch. Neighbors of all ages turned out to celebrate.
