Neighborhood Watch
Thank You for visiting PortNorfolk.org
Interested in keeping Port Norfolk a safe and friendly neighborhood? Come talk with neighbors about a Neighborhood Watch program. Benefits include increased safety and property values and getting to know your neighbors better. Anyone who’s interested can participate; it’s as simple as always reporting crime and suspicious behavior and watching out for your neighbors. Please view the manual on this web page. We look forward to building up enough support to participate in the City’s program and get signage from the City. If you are interested or have questions, please contact Heather McVey at crimewatch@portnorfolk.org.

REPORT IT!
Please remember to call 911 if you are reporting a crime in progress or any event that may endanger persons or property.
This form will send an annonymous email to a member of our community watch for review and forwarding to the appropriate persons for further investigation or discussion.
Reporting Crime Is Easy
Every day, we encounter situations calling upon us to be the eyes and ears of law enforcement. It only takes a moment to help make Port Norfolk a Crime Free Zone.
Call:
If you see a crime in progress or if you have an emergency dial 9-1-1 immediately. You should use this service to contact the police in situations when you need an immediate response - if a crime / incident is happening now or if anyone is in immediate danger.
If you have a non-urgent issue– vandalism, theft from motor vehicle, property damage, suspicious cars or persons – you should report the incident to Dispatch Non-Emergency at 757-393-5300
Portsmouth Crime Line and the Portsmouth Police Department encourages everyone to report information about any non-urgent illegal activity, such as fugitives, theft, and distribution of drugs, or information about crimes that are being planned in the community or in the schools.
Text:
You can anonymous text any crime tip by simply texting the word “Portsmouth plus your message” to 274637 (CRIMES), and the dialog will start. If your information leads to an arrest, recovery of stolen property, guns or drugs, you will receive a return message. You can stop the dialog at any time, by simply texting the word “STOP.” Or you can call in a tip at the 1-888-LOCK-U-UP number and speak directly to the Coordinator.
Remember that law enforcement uses crime reports to improve community awareness and reduce area crime. If the police know that an area is having problems, even minor ones, they know to be on the lookout for that type of activity.
By sharing information you have about a crime, you are helping the police, your neighbors and your community. You are also being proactive in helping to prevent future crimes from taking place.
Call 911 if you are reporting a crime in progress or any event that may endanger persons or property
